Install from GitHub
Installing RMC from GitHub takes a few steps.
-
You need a C++-ready project. If your project has no C++ code yet, use
Tools -> New C++ Classin the editor to create any template actor — this converts the project to a C++ project and generates a Visual Studio / build setup for it. See Epic’s C++ quick start if you’re new to this. -
Download the plugin from GitHub. There are two variants:
- Core — free to use, and hosted directly in the RealtimeMeshComponent repository. Grab a tagged release or clone the repository directly.
- Pro — the paid version with the full feature set (Nanite, SDF/Lumen cards, spatial streaming, compute providers). Access is granted through your purchase; see the repository for current distribution details.
-
If you downloaded a zip, unzip its contents into:
{YourProject}/Plugins/RealtimeMeshComponent/If you cloned the repository, clone (or move) it to that same path.
-
Open your
.uprojectfile, or open the project from your IDE — the engine will prompt to build the new plugin modules automatically. -
To use RMC from C++ code, add it to your project module’s
Build.cslike any other dependency:PublicDependencyModuleNames.Add("RealtimeMeshComponent");
Continue with the Quickstart to build your first mesh, or see Examples for the bundled sample content.
